This onboarding course is designed for health practitioners starting work as contractors within a private practice settings. It provides practical understanding of their legal, professional and behavioural obligations when working as independent contractors in a general practice setting. It covers key areas including the commercial nature of arrangements, work health and safety responsibilities, professional boundaries, communication and managing concerns.

Participants will gain the knowledge to conduct themselves professionally, manage workplace interactions effectively and meet their obligations within a shared practice environment.

Learning outcome 1: Identify the legal and professional obligations of practitioners operating as independent contractors, including their role as a PCBU and responsibilities under work health and safety legislation.

Learning outcome 2: Apply principles of professional conduct, communication and boundaries in interactions within a general practice environment.

Learning outcome 3: Implement appropriate processes for managing concerns, complaints and workplace interactions in a professional and compliant manner.
