Gossip & Rumours at Work
Workplace gossip is not always intended to cause harm, but it can quickly damage trust, privacy, psychological safety and team culture.
Our Gossip & Rumours at Work eLearning course has been developed for employees in private medical and specialist practices. It goes beyond simply telling employees not to gossip by helping them understand how gossip develops, the impact it can have, and what they can say or do differently.
Through practical examples, realistic scenarios and clear workplace scripts, employees will learn how to:
- recognise gossip, rumours and inappropriate speculation;
- respond appropriately when gossip arises;
- raise genuine concerns through the right channels;
- receive feedback professionally if concerns are raised about their conduct; and
- seek support if they are personally affected.
The course is suitable for all employees, including those who have experienced gossip, witnessed it as a bystander, unintentionally participated in it, or received feedback about their involvement.
It can be used as a preventive training session during onboarding and induction, or as part of a practical response where gossip or workplace culture concerns have already arisen.
