Management of Suicidal Patients for Clinical Staff in a GP & Specialist Setting (Coming Soon)

Suicide Crisis Management in GP and Specialist Practices is a practical online learning program designed for clinicians and non-clinicians working within general practice and specialist medical settings. This includes reception staff, administration teams, nurses, allied health professionals, and other frontline staff who may be faced with a patient experiencing suicidal thoughts or presenting in immediate emotional distress.
This five-module training focuses on crisis management in the moment—equipping staff with the confidence to respond appropriately when a patient discloses suicidal thoughts, presents with clear risk factors, or raises immediate concerns for their safety. Participants will learn how to recognise warning signs, respond calmly and safely, ask appropriate questions, escalate concerns effectively, and support the patient while maintaining professional boundaries.
A strong focus is placed on understanding scope of practice and duty of care, helping staff know what they should do, what they should not do, and how to meet their legal and professional responsibilities within both GP and specialist practice environments. The training provides clear, practical guidance for managing real-life situations, ensuring patients are kept safe while staff feel supported and confident in their role.
This program is ideal for practices wanting a consistent, team-based approach to managing suicide-related presentations with professionalism, safety, and clarity across both general practice and specialist healthcare settings.
